Filet Mignon with Mushroom Sauce recipe

  • 1-¼ teaspoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1-¼ teaspoon Seasoning Salt
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 2 whole Filet Mignon Steaks
  • 4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter, Divided
  • 5 whole Crimini Mushroom Caps, Sliced Thinly
  • 1 cup Beef Or Vegetable Broth
  • ¼ cups Red Wine
  • Salt And Pepper

Cooking Instructions

In a small bowl, mix together the granulated garlic, seasoning salt, and a dash of salt and pepper. Rub the seasoning onto both sides of the steaks.

In a medium sized skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

Once the butter is melted and the pan is hot, place the steaks in the pan and let them sear for 4-5 minutes. Try not to touch them so they get a nice crust.

Then turn the steaks over and let them cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Add 2 minutes if you like your steaks medium and another 2 minutes for medium-well.

Place the steaks on a plate or a cutting board, cover with a sheet of foil, and let them sit and rest until the mushrooms are cooked.

In the same pan, melt another 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add in the mushrooms and season with salt and pepper. Let them cook for 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.

Then pour in the beef/vegetable broth and red wine. Scrape the bottom of the pan for the delicious brown bits and let the mushrooms cook for 5 minutes.

Once the steak is rested, slice the steak and put on the plates, then spoon the delicious mushroom sauce on top!
